Welcome to William Sharpe Antiques. Here today for your consideration we have this beautiful Georgian sterling silver sugar caster, made by Dorothy Mills & Thomas Sarbitt of London, c-1746. The caster is of traditional form with plinth base and bright cut and pierced lid with turned finial. The quality is very good throughout, both in design and construction. Condition is reasonably good used, with a discrete split evident at the join of the finial to lid (tight and visible only from within the lid). The lid sits tightly on the base with the caster featuring a well executed crest to one face (Bigge family); the hallmarks being clearly struck to the base.
A fine mid 18th century sterling silver caster for the collection. The caster stand 15cm tall and weighs in at a very respectable 129gms unpacked. To see my other items!
