Regency sterling silver fish slice. Hallmarked in London in 1815 for William Chawner II. Large fish slice with central pierced decoration. Exccellent, some scattered fine scratches, no dings.
160 grams (approx 5.1 troy). Known at the time as'long oval servers. Made in the same year that Boney finally met his comeuppance at the Battle of Waterloo. We can say with some confidence that this was not used on a field south of Brussels. I have been involved in the antiques business since 1971. My career took a leap forward when I joined Bonhams in 1976. Some five years later I became head of the Decorative Arts department.
